This Regulation can be corrected, modified or improved at any time by the Organization, as well as any data, rule or apart for optimal race performance. To be registered shows the conformity of the participant with this Regulation.

 

 

REGULATIONS OF RIAÑO TRAIL RUN

 

This Regulation will be strictly complied for all participants of the event denominated RIAÑO TRAIL RUN.  Any incident not reflected in the regulation, will be resolved by the jury of the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN, composed by the Sports Director of the race, a Member of the Organization, a Representative of the Runners and a Referee.

  

 

Art. 1 ORGANIZATION

The mountain race Riaño Trail Run is organized by TerraIncognita Global S.L. 

Art.2  RACE

The RIAÑO TRAIL RUN is a mountain race by stages that takes place in the environment of Natural Park of Fuentes Carrionas y Fuente Cobre - Montaña Palentina, Natural Park of Picos de Europa and Natural Park of Montañas de Riaño y Mampodre.

The RIAÑO TRAIL RUN has three modalities:  RIAÑO 3xTRAIL RUN (3 stages), RIAÑO 2xTRAIL RUN (2 stages) & RIAÑO 1xTRAIL RUN (1 stage).

 

RIAÑO 3xTRAIL RUN:

The Stage 1 takes place on Friday, 23nd June at 8:15 from Oseja de Sajambre to Caín de Valdeón and it has a distance of 36 kms. The closing Finish is at 18:15 hours.

The Stage 2 takes place on Saturday, 24st June at 9:00 from Valverde de la Sierra to Valverde de la Sierra and it has a distance of 21,5 kms. The closing Finish is at 15:00 hours.

The Stage 3 takes place on Sunday, 25th June at 9:00 from Riaño to RIaño and it has a distance of 23,5 kms. The closing Finish is at 14:30 hours

 

RIAÑO 2xTRAIL RUN:

The Stage 2 takes place on Saturday, 24st June at 9:00 from Valverde de la Sierra to Valverde de la Sierra and it has a distance of 21,5 kms. The closing Finish is at 15:00 hours.

The Stage 3 takes place on Sunday, 25th June at 9:00 from Riaño to RIaño and it has a distance of 23,5 kms. The closing Finish is at 14:00 hours

RIAÑO 1xTRAIL RUN:

The Stage 3 takes place on Sunday, 25th June at 9:00 from Riaño to RIaño and it has a distance of 23,5 kms. The closing Finish is at 14:00 hours

Art.3  SPORTS BEHAVIOR AND RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

 

The RIAÑO TRAIL RUN is held with absolute respect for the environment.

 

Participants should respect the environment in which the race is realized and keep clean the environment. For these reasons the runners should eat and drink WITHOUT LEAVING ANY PACKAGE OUT OF CONTAINERS enabled for such use.

 

THE BREACH OF THIS ITEM will lead to the IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION OF THE PARTICIPANT. This disqualification can be disabled by a simple testimony of any member of the organizing team of the race.

 

The Organization will not cut traffic, and participants will respect the road rules in towns and highways use and public domain.

 

The participants will be disqualified from the competition if showing violent aptitudes or littering in nature. To respect the crops, livestock and private property in general are obligatory.

 

Participants are responsible for any damages incurred as a result of this type of behavior.

It is strictly forbidden to receive outside assistance or supplies during the development of the race out of the points set forth by the organization: these points will coincide with the official refreshments. 

 

Art.4  PARTICIPATION AND REGISTRATION 

The participation in the RIAÑO 3xTRAIL RUN can be done in two modalities: Individual or by team of 2 runners. RIAÑO 2xTRAIL RUN & RIAÑO 1xTRAIL RUN have only Individual modality.

The act of registering for the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN entails the acceptance of its terms and conditions by all participants.  It also implies that the participant has the adequate preparation and that he/she is aware of the hard geographical and weather conditions one may encounter throughout its course.  Therefore, the participant exempts the Organizer from any liability regarding any health problems resulting from his/her participation in the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN.

 

Registered participants understand that they participate in the event voluntarily and under their own responsibility.  Thus, they exempt the Organizer from any liability and will not press any charges or file any liability claims against the Organizer, its collaborators, sponsors or other participants.

 

To this end, when collecting their race bib in Riaño, participants must submit the document “Disclaimer and certificate of physical fitness” duly printed and signed.  This document will be read and accepted during the registration process, and each participant must print it, fill in and sign it. 

The runners participating in the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN, must fill in and sign on the spot at the time of collection of the "DOCUMENT OF DECLARATION OF PHYSICAL FITNESS AND RELEASE OF RESPONSIBILITY".

 

The registration fee for the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN will be governed according to the following payment terms:

 

 

THE REGISTRATION TO RIAÑO TRAIL RUN INCLUDES:

 

  • Registration for the race.

  • Liquid and solid equipment during the race and finish.

  • Assistance during the race through the sanitary and safety device set by the Organization.

  • Timing system and online tracker tracking

  • Shower and WC in the RIAÑO TRAIL CAMP after the race.

  • Transportation service to the RIAÑO CAMP of the participants leaving from the Pass Controls that have Withdrawal Control.

  • Transfer the personal bag of each runner from the Start of each stage to the Finish line.

  • Welcome Pack with personalized bag of RIAÑO 3xTRAIL RUN.

  • Exclusive Finisher Medal for all participants of the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN. (3x, 2x & 1x)

  • Finisher gear for runners completing the RAIL TRAIL RUN (3x & 2x)

 

Art. 5 CLASSIFICATIONS

 

The RIAÑO TRAIL RUN counts on two modalities: INDIVIDUAL and TEAM (2 Runners).

 

TEAM:(3x)

 

The team classification will be made with the sum of the times of the first team runner in crossing the Finish line in each stage.

 

The second team member may not exceed the time of the first runner in more than 2 minutes, either at any checkpoint or finsih line. In case of exceeding the time of 2 minutes difference between the two runners, a penalty will be imposed on the team of the number of minutes equivalent to the difference between both of them X 2. (Ex .: the second runner crosses the finish line 4 minutes after his partner, Team receives an 8-minute penalty). Sanctions are cumulative at the same stage between checkpoint and finish line. (Ex: A runner crosses the Control 1 after 3 minutes of his partner and in finish line enters 4 minutes after the companion, the sanction to the team is of 14 minutes (3x2 + 4x2)).

If in any of the following stages, the time of 2 minutes between the two runners is exceeded at any checkpoint or finish line the team will be disqualified.

 

INDIVIDUAL: (3x, 2x & 1x)

 

The individual classification will be made with the addition of the runner times in each stage.

Withdrawal of a team member.

 

If a team member retires during the race. The other team member can follow the race in the individual mode but will not be eligible for prizes. His name will appear in the general classification as Finisher and he will be eligible for the Spain Ultra Cup and ITRA points, but he will not be eligible for the prizes if he is in the podium positions of the race.

 

In mixed pairs, in case of withdrawal of the male runner, the female runner will run to the individual mode with a penalty of 30 seconds per kilometer ran with the team.

Art.7  BIB NUMBER

 

The RIAÑO TRAIL RUN has a maximum of 500 bibs number available in total. 

Bib collection >  Program

Each participant must wear the race bib on the front of the body, on top of the clothing, and it must be easily visible all time. 

 

Race bibs are personal and non-transferable.  By default, race bibs (and gift bags) will only be given to participants who have registered for the event.  Participants must show an IDENTITY CARD, PASSPORT or NIE (Foreign Identification Number) to prove their identity in order to collect their race bib. The identity document must be the same used for registration.

 

After the identity check, the personnel handing out the race bib will put a control wristband on the wrist of the participant.  The participant must wear this wristband during the entire event.  Together with the race bib, the wristband entitles access to all services available for participants: start area, aid stations, transport for dropouts, medical services, drop bag transport and collection… etc.

 

Not wearing the wristband during the event entails disqualification. 

 

Each participant will be assigned a number, which will be determined randomly in all cases, except for the first numbers to be determined by the Organization.

 

Participants will get race bibs of different colors according to each stage.

Art.8  MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

All runners without exceptions must carry the following equipment to be able to perform the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN:

 

 

Individual Modality: (3x, 2x & 1x)

  • Mobile phone: With the battery fully charged and on during the entire race.

  • Thermal blanket: Minimum area (1.4 x 2 m)

  • Whistle.

  • Glass for liquid supply: There are no glasses at the refreshment point.

  • Windbreaker jacket

  • Containers and / or watertight bags for liquids: With a minimum total capacity of 1L.

Team Modality: (3x)

- Each runner:

  • Thermal blanket: Minimum area (1.4 x 2 m)

  • Glass for liquid supply: There are no glasses at the refreshment point.

  • Windbreaker jacket

  • Containers and / or watertight bags for liquids: With a minimum total capacity of 1L.

- Each team:

  • Mobile phone: With the battery fully charged and on during the entire test.

  • GPS with stage track

  • Mini kit: With material to heal small wounds, cuts or frictions.

There will be inspections of mandatory clothing and equipment at any point throughout the course.  These inspections may be general or random.

Not carrying one or more of the mandatory items, refusing to cooperate in a control or being disrespectful to the controller entails the immediate invalidation of the race bib number.

 

Recommended equipment:

  • Sunglasses: with plastic lenses

  • Poles: Strongly recommended in case of rain or snow.

  • Sunscreen cream or lotion: Total protection.

  • Electrolytes and/or mineral salts

  • Energy food: Energy bars, gels, fruits…

  • Mini first-aid kit: With supplies for the treatment of minor wounds or scratches.

  • Backpack: Appropriate to the volume of the material and pace of the participant. 

Art.9  CHECKPOINTS, AID STATIONS AND ASSISTANCE

The route of the race will be marked with tape and specific signage created for race. The track of the Trail shall be published in the official website of the race. Any changes or modifications to the same will be announced in the official website and social networks. 

 

Participants must follow the marked course without disobeying any signs and must stop at all checkpoints.

 

Besides the official checkpoints announced on the web www.riaótrail.run, the Organization may set up “mobile” checkpoints to control the race or material at any point of the course. 

 

Participants must respond to the requests and questions posed by a course steward, physician, nurse or aid station supervisor at checkpoints or at any other point throughout the race.

 

It is strictly forbidden receive outside assistance or supplies during the development of the race out of the points set forth by the organization: these coincide with the official refreshments. Likewise, it is prohibited to be accompanied by others who are not participants registered in the race. 

 

Participants of RIAÑO TRAIL RUN may have personal assistance only in the areas enabled for it.  ASSISTANCE AREAS comprise an area set by the organization.  The limits of these areas will be clearly marked throughout the course, marking the start and the end of each ASSISTANCE AREA. Access to aid stations will be restricted to runners and authorized crews (RESTRICTED AREA without public access). Only one crew member can enter and assist each runner in the RESTRICTED AREA in aid stations. 

 

When collecting the race bib, each runner can apply for a maximum of 2 authorizations for assistance crew members, so they can distribute among the different aid stations.

 

Each aid station has a designated closing time. Participants must reach all aid stations before their closing time to be able to continue on the race.

 

Aid stations will provide liquids and solid food, which will vary according to their location on the course.  The items available in each aid station may be checked at the web.

 

Food and drinks must be ingested at the aid station, in sufficient amount to meet the energy requirements to reach the next aid station.  Water can be loaded in the containers or hydration packs carried by the participants.

 

Having a race bib and a wristband is required to get access to the aid stations.

Art.10 DROP OUT AND EVACUATION

 

Withdrawals must be made in the Control Points. If by accident or injury, the runner cannot reach a checkpoint they must follow the rescue procedure by contacting the organization through the Emergency Mobile Phone.

 

The runner wishing to drop out must inform the aid station. The supervisor will identify the runner as dropout.

 

Only the aid stations indicated as CONTROL RECALL points, there will be transportation to evacuate dropout runners.

Art.11 SAFETY AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

There will be several medical and safety teams coordinated with the national 112 emergency services by the central direction of the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN, located in Riaño.

 

By default, these teams will be distributed among the different aid stations so runners may ask for assistance or help in case of need.

 

There will be mandatory medical examinations at some points along the route, which may be random or general.

 

Refusal by the runner to cooperate fully or being disrespectful with the medical personnel may result in immediate disqualification.

 

All participants will accept the medical decisions of the physicians and medical team, whose decision will prevail over all others. The physicians and caregivers may:

 

  • Remove from the event any runner that they consider incapable of continuing, by invalidating their race bib number.

  • Order the evacuation of any participant who they consider being in danger.

  • If necessary, order the hospitalization of a runner. 

Art.12  MODIFICATIONS THE ROUTE, CUT-OFF TIMES OR CANCELLATION OF THE RACE

 

In case of bad weather conditions or force majeure, the organizers reserve the right to suspend, neutralize or modify the time and / route of the race.

 

If the event is cancelled due to force majeure more than 7 days before the start date, the registration fees will be partially refunded.  The amount refunded will depend on the date of the suspension and the amount that the Organizer has already spent on non-refundable costs.

 

If the event is cancelled for reasons beyond the Organizer’s control within 7 days before the start of the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN, or if the event is suspended after having started, no registration fees will be refunded

 

Race Referees present in the race as well as any member of the organization shall monitor the implementation of the Regulation and are authorized to immediately apply the following penalties or disqualifications:

  • Not following the race course, although NOT shortening its distance or even increasing it. Penalty of 5 min.

  • Not following the race course, shortening its distance. Penalty of 30min. 1st warning.  Disqualification: 2nd warning.

  • Run accompanied by someone without a race bib who displays a clear intention to help the runner. Penalty of 30min. 1st warning.  Disqualification: 2nd warning.

  • Receiving personal assistance outside the area of aid stations. Penalty of 15min. 1st warning. Disqualification: 2nd warning.

  • Littering or any behavior that may harm the natural environment. Disqualification.

  • No assistance to a person in danger (injury, great exhaustion, hypothermia . Disqualification and ban from entering any future events.

  • Skipping a checkpoint. Disqualification.

  • Not having the mandatory equipment or refusal to cooperate during an inspection of equipment or refusal to undergo a medical examination.  Disqualification.

  • Remove or change the marks set by the organization.  Disqualification and ban from entering any future events.

  • Using a means of transport.  Disqualification and ban from entering any future events.

  • Transferring the race bib or chip to another person to run in place of the registered runner during part or the totality of the event; and/or providing false information to the Organizers. Disqualification and ban from entering any future events.

  • Dropping out without immediately notifying the Organizer. Disqualification and ban from entering any future events.

  • Not carry the bib number in front of the clothing and visibly. Warning + Disqualification.

  • Invest more time than the organization establishes to complete the race as well as exceed the maximum split times established by stretch. Disqualification.

Art.13 CATEGORIES, CLASSIFICATIONS AND TROPHIES.

The established categories of the RIAÑO TRAIL RUN are the following:

 

INDIVIDUAL: (3x, 2x & 1x)

 

  • MALE ABSOLUTE (18 years old and older, completed 18 years before the race)

  • FEMALE ABSOLUTE (18 years old and older, fulfilled 18 years before the race)

  • MALE SENIOR (18 years old to 39 years of age. Completed the year of the competition)

  • FEMALE SENIOR  (18 years old to 39 years old, completed the year of the competition)

  • MALE VETERANS (From 40 to 50 years old, completed the year of the competition)

  • FEMALE VETERANS  (From 40 to 50 years old, completed the year of the competition)

  • MALE MASTER (51 years and over)

  • FEMALE MASTER (51 years  and over)

 

TEAM: (3x)

 

  • MALE ABSOLUTE (18 years old and older, completed 18 years before the race)

  • FEMALE ABSOLUTE (18 years old and older, fulfilled 18 years before the race)

  • MIXED ABSOLUTE (Woman and Man, fulfilled the 18 years before the celebration of the race)

  • MALE SENIOR (The average age of the team under 40. Completed the year of the competition)

  • FEMININE SENIOR (The average age of the team under 40. Completed the year of the competition)

  • MIXED SENIOR (The average age of the team under 40. Completed the year of the competition)

  • MALE VETERANS (The average age of the team between 40 and 49. Completed the year of the competition)

  • FEMALE VETERANS (The average age of the team between 40 and 49. Completed the year of the competition)

  • MIXED VETERANS (The average age of the team between 40 and 49. Completed the year of the competition)

  • MALE MASTER (The average age of the team over 50. Completed the year of the competition)

  • FEMALE MASTER (The average age of the team over 50. Completed the year of the competition)

  • MASTER MIXED (The average age of the team over 50. Completed the year of the competition)

 

The top three finishers of each category will receive a trophy. Is necessary the participation of at least five athletes in each category to opt for trophy. If this requirement is not met, only the winner of the category will have trophy.

 

Lack of attendance to the awards ceremony entails renouncing to the corresponding trophy and cash prize. Any delegation to another person for the collection of trophies and awards shall be known and authorized by the Organization at least 3 hours before delivery.

Art.14 IMAGE RIGHTS

 

Accepting the present regulations mandatorily involves that the participant authorizes TerraIncognita Sport SL to take photographs and filming their participation in RIAÑO TRAIL RUN

 

In addition, the participant consents the publication, commercial and advertising exploitation of the images taken during RIAÑO TRAIL RUN  -including those images in which the participant is clearly identifiable- without any right of economical compensation for the participant.  Images will not be used for any other purposes than those stated before.

 

TerraIncognita Sport SL owns all image rights of the event in exclusive. Any media or advertising projects must have the consent of TerraIncognica Global SL.      

 

Art.15   DATA PROTECTION

In accordance with the provisions of the Organic Law 15/1999 of December 13th on Personal Data Protection, the participant’s personal data will be included in a folder named “Sport Events” owned by TerraIncognita Global SL. The data will be used for the management, organization, realization and communication of sport events, publication of results and ensuring the safety of participants.  The data will be used by the organizing entity TerraIncognita Global SL.

 

Participants are responsible of the veracity and accuracy of the data provided and they may exercise their rights to access, rectify, cancel or oppose their personal data in accordance with the Organic Law 15/1999 December 13th.
